Contour Your Body
The need to have curves has sparked interest in some of the latest body contouring procedures, such as the Brazilian Butt Lift. More people want a larger, more voluminous backside, and the Brazilian Butt Lift is an ideal method to achieve just that. It is a safe and effective procedure that involves the removal of fat from one area of the body and then the transfer of it into the buttocks to add volume and improve the shape of the butt.
Who Can Benefit from a
Brazilian Butt Lift?
Many women who lack volume and shape in their buttocks make excellent candidates for the Brazilian Butt Lift. This is especially true if they also desire to remove stubborn fat from trouble zones on other areas of their body.
Anyone Over 18
Although commonly a procedure geared towards women, the Brazilian Butt Lift can be performed on any adult over the age of 18 who want to change the shape or size of their buttocks.
The Brazilian Butt Lift is a surgical procedure; therefore, ideal patients should be in good health, have realistic expectations, and understand the complications and risks associated with the procedure.
Curvy, More Attractive Buttocks
Many people who have small buttocks feel as if they have a shapeless appearance. They wish their buttocks had more volume and better shape. Buttocks enhancement can help a person achieve a rounder butt shape that creates an attractive and prominent rear end. Women can achieve more feminine curves that beautifully enhance their entire physique.
Slender Body Contours
Brazilian Butt Lift patients can have stubborn fat removed to contour problem areas and enhance the buttocks at the same time. Fat is typically removed from the abdomen, around the hips, and just above the buttocks to create smoother and more slender body contours.
Safe Buttocks Enhancement
Traditional buttock enhancement techniques, such as gluteal implants, carry a higher risk of complications, larger incisions, and a long recovery period. The Brazilian Butt Lift involves fat transfer surgery to remove fat from one area and inject it into the buttocks, which means the risks are less than a gluteal implant, considered a foreign body.
When undergoing plastic surgery, most patients’ goal is to not look “operated on.” By utilizing liposuction to harvest and sculpt fat, the buttocks can be shaped in a natural-looking way, creating contours that are smooth and complementary to the rest of the body. The goals of a BBL should be a more curvaceous buttocks and smaller waist.
A customized garment should be worn to apply selective pressure to the area(s) treated with liposuction and to provide support to the new body shape. Patients should avoid applying pressure to any area of the buttocks for at least four weeks. If a patient wants to sit, they should use special devices with a cushion to protect the area (the specific type of devices will be discussed further during your consultation). Most patients can return to work in 7 to 10 days. After two months, most of the post-operative swelling, bruising, and soreness should be completely alleviated. By this time, the majority of patients can resume intense physical exercise and activities.
The liposuction incisions are very small and just large enough to insert the thin, hollow tube (cannula) that is used to suction out the fat. As the incisions heal, they will become less noticeable, if even visible at all. No incisions will be placed on the buttocks and, therefore, no scarring will result in this area.
The cost of the Brazilian Butt Lift procedure can vary depending on the surgeon’s experience, the extent of the procedure, and the geographic location of the surgery. According to statistics from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the average surgeon’s fee for buttock lift using fat grafting in 2015 was $4,103. This did not include anesthesia costs, operating room fees, or any other related expenses.
Patients may experience some pain and discomfort from swelling and bruising. Prescription pain medication can be administered to alleviate any post-surgical discomfort.
Q: How is the Brazilian Butt Lift performed?
The Brazilian Butt Lift involves the use of liposuction to harvest fat from an area of the body containing excess, unwanted fat. Common areas are the abdomen, thighs, hips, flanks, and upper arms. The extracted fat is then purified through a specially designed system. The cleaned fat is injected into the buttocks using cannulas with varying lengths and diameters to add volume and create shape.
Q: What are the risks and complications of the procedure?
As with any surgical procedure, the Brazilian Butt Lift can have some risks and complications, some of which may include:
- Hypertrophic/keloid scars
- Partial or full loss of tissue
- Altered sensation (increased or decreased)
- Fat necrosis
- Possible increase in cellulite
- Skin irregularities
- Blood clots
Q: What type of anesthesia is used for the procedure?
General anesthesia is administered during the surgery. The procedure can take anywhere from four to five hours to complete.
Q: What if I do not have enough excess fat for the procedure?
A patient who does not have enough excess fat to harvest may not be the best candidate for the Brazilian Butt Lift procedure. However, they may have other options to choose from to achieve their buttock augmentation goals. At Imagos Institute of Plastic Surgery, we offer selective liposculpture procedures that are also performed to enhance the buttocks.
