VASER-Lipo is the gentle, body-sculpting alternative to traditional liposuction. VASER uses ultrasound energy to liquefy the fat in the areas being treated. This liquefied fat is easier for the surgeon to aspirate with less trauma and less bleeding. In addition, the VASER allows for greater precision in the sculpting process, since the aspiration cannulas used are of smaller diameter than what are typically used in traditional liposuction and they are maneuvered in a much gentler manner.
When performed by an expert surgeon, VASER-Lipo can produce attention-grabbing results following a single treatment. The VASER selectively targets the unwanted fat while avoiding damage to surrounding blood vessels and nerves. The VASER patient experiences less bruising, less swelling, less post-operative pain and ultimately less downtime than patients who undergo similar body contouring under traditional liposuction. In addition to these advantages, the VASER ultrasound assists with the contracture of the overlying skin in the treatment areas producing a firmer more youthful result.
VASER-Lipo is usually performed as an outpatient surgery. To begin the procedure, the surgeon makes small access incisions adjacent to the treatment area. A tumescent solution containing epinephrine that shrinks the blood vessels is injected into the tissues that the surgeon plans to remove. The VASER probe is then inserted to send the ultrasound energy to the unwanted fat. The VASER ultrasonic energy is “lipo-selective” in that it separates and liquefies the unwanted fat while preserving the surrounding tissue. This liquefied fat is easily and precisely aspirated by the surgeon using a small liposuction cannula. The small incisions are closed with a suture and are typically not noticeable after healing.
As the swelling decreases the skin contracts over the new body shape. Most patients usually take a few days off from work to recover. Results appear within the first couple of weeks after the surgery and improve as the swelling decreases. The results typically stabilize approximately three months after the surgery.
