Dermal Fillers Miami FL, at Imagos Plastic Surgery

Revitalize your Skin and Appearance with Dermal Fillers from Imagos Plastic Surgery

As we age, our skin begins to create less collagen and elastin, two vital proteins that are responsible for keeping our skin plump and smooth. Due to this loss, our skin begins to show unwanted signs of aging, especially in the cheeks and around the mouth.

Dermal fillers offer a safe and convenient way to temporarily restore this lost facial volume, enhance facial features, and smooth deep wrinkles or scars. These versatile compounds can also gradually improve the condition of the skin in treated areas by stimulating the production of collagen, which helps to prolong your results and the integrity of the skin itself.

Dermal fillers are best done by a board-certified plastic surgeon like Dr. Perez-Gurri or Dr. Onelio Garcia of Imagos Plastic Surgery in Miami, FL. As experts in facial and body rejuvenation procedures, they’ll use dermal fillers to remove unwanted signs of aging and help restore a youthful appearance in a safe and natural way. Dermal fillers are offered in several different brands and consistencies, making them a versatile and customizable treatment.

What Are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers, like the well-known brands Revance® and Restylane®, contain a viscous gel made from hyaluronic acid (HA). HA is found naturally in the human body, where it helps hydrate and fortify our skin and connective tissues. Any allergic reactions to dermal fillers are highly infrequent due to HA being a natural substance the body creates. Hence, it’s unlikely that the body will produce an allergic response when this compound is reintroduced into the skin.

In most cases, injecting HA improves the condition of the skin. HA aids in the building of collagen, a protein that keeps the skin supple and young. HA is, therefore, an excellent choice to combat collagen loss that occurs with age. Consistent dermal filler injections can even make the skin more resistant to signs of aging like wrinkles and skin sagging.

What Can Dermal Fillers Improve?

Dermal fillers are the number one non-invasive choice for correcting these common signs of aging in the face:

Wrinkles

Wrinkles are known to show around the mouth, nose, eyes, and lips because of the natural decrease in collagen and repetitive movements in those areas. The formula in our dermal fillers is safe and effective in reducing lower facial wrinkles. When HA is reintroduced back into the skin, it’s like water to a balloon. It helps the skin expand, smoothing out the wrinkles and filling in where fine lines are visible.

Volume Loss

Sunken cheeks or a hollow, gaunt appearance directly result from losing facial fat volume in the face. The loss of this volume can be due to a number of different things, including genetics, age, gravity, diet, and health issues. Regardless of the cause, it can make us look and feel older than we are. Dermal fillers can sculpt the cheeks and restore lost volume to make your face look full and youthful again.

Thin Lips

Full lips and a beautiful pout can complement anyone’s appearance. Thinning lips or lips that naturally lack fullness can benefit from temporary lip fillers, which provide the lips with the shape and size you desire. Ask us which lip fillers would work best for you!

How Do Facial Fillers Work?

The HA used in dermal fillers is a viscous gel that, when injected into the skin, smooths and raises the skin’s surface around the injected area. This process occurs because HA attracts water molecules and binds them to the surface, encouraging fullness in a way that feels and looks completely natural. When dermal fillers are injected into deep wrinkles, they fill the area so the crease is minimized, and the skin will look smoother. They’re one of the most sought-after ways to treat age-related facial fat loss, which creates hollows around the mouth and cheekbones. Filling in these hollows with HA can subtly lift your features and reduce the excess skin around your face.

Types of Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are available in a variety of different consistencies. Thicker gel formulas are best for sculpting smaller areas like the lips, nose, and philtrum. Thinner fillers are ideal for producing a diffused effect, making them perfect for amplifying larger sites like the hollows of the cheeks.

How Do Face Fillers Compare to Botox?

Both Botox® and Dermal Fillers are used to treat wrinkles and fine lines on the face, but they work quite differently. Botox® addresses dynamic wrinkles, or wrinkles that appear when you make a facial expression like a smile or scowl, by temporarily relaxing the muscle that causes the wrinkles to form. Fillers treat static wrinkles, which are visible even when the face isn’t moving, by directly filling in lines with a solution and strengthening loose skin.

What To Expect from A Dermal Filler Treatment?

Before administering dermal fillers, either Dr. Perez-Gurri or Dr. Garcia will first determine with the patient the best type and volume of filler needed for the particular area of concern. They will then apply an anesthetic cream to the skin so that the patient won’t feel any discomfort during their treatment. Finally, they will inject a small amount of filler into the area that requires treatment. Dermal fillers differ in chemical makeup and have varying degrees of softness. Softer fillers are used in the lips, while thicker fillers are used to enhance cheekbones, nasolabial folds, or depressed scars. Your doctor will carefully avoid overfilling the face, as this can create an unnatural or puffy look.

Dermal filler treatments are generally painless, though you may notice some mild tenderness, redness, or swelling around the injection site for the first few hours after your appointment. These symptoms generally fade on their own over the next few days. Dermal fillers require no recovery time. You’re free to go about your normal activities as soon as your appointment is over.

What Dermal Fillers Can’t Do!

For some patients, minimally invasive rejuvenation treatments such as dermal fillers may not be the best approach, since the patient may require a facelift, brow lift, or blepharoplasty. Dermal fillers are temporary treatments for facial aging.
