  • There is minimal downtime.
  • Microneedling can target one specific area or the entire face, neck and chest depending on your individual concerns.
  • It is safe to use on difficult-to-reach areas, such as the upper and lower lips and around the eyes.
  • Compared to other treatments, microneedling is the most effective at treating raised or pitted acne scars.
  • Microneedling is safe to use with other skin rejuvenation treatments like Botox® injections and dermal fillers when treatments are spaced between four to six weeks.

Benefits of Microneedling

Microneedling is an effective, non-invasive treatment that can help improve the appearance and texture of your skin.  Whether you have scars, wrinkles or other skin concerns, microneedling is an excellent option that can provide dramatic results. Dermal fillers and Botox treatments can be very effective as well when used in tandem with microneedling.

The results are typically long lasting, but it is recommended to continue to protect your skin and occasionally schedule follow-up treatments as needed.

What to Expect from a Miami Microneedling Procedure?

Starting with your consultation, our Miami skin specialist evaluates the depth and degree of your skin concerns to confirm microneedling is the best solution for you.

During your initial visit, our experts will also determine the correct needle length and the number of procedures needed to reach your desired results. This can range from three to six treatment sessions with about four to six weeks of recovery time between each appointment. This recovery period ensures consistent collagen, elastin, and cell turnover without overwhelming the body.

Before your microneedling treatment, a numbing agent will be applied to the skin allowing you to have the most comfortable experience. After 30 minutes, our licensed aesthetician will begin your treatment by carefully gliding the device across the areas of skin you’d like to rejuvenate. After the procedure is finished, a soothing repair serum will be applied. The micro-injuries allow the serum to penetrate deeply into the skin’s surface, expediting the healing process while protecting your skin.

Immediately after your treatment, your skin will be red, similar to a sunburn, and slightly sensitive. Therefore, it’s important that your skin remains clean and free of cosmetics during the next week. Before you leave the office, our skin care professional will provide detailed instructions on how to care for your skin as it heals. The results show smoother, tighter skin, smaller pores, and a new radiant glow that will enhance your natural complexion.

What Happens During the Microneedling Procedure?

Even though we personalize every single one of our treatments, most patients will have a very similar experience with this procedure. After you arrive at our center, one of our team members will guide you to a private room where you can get comfortable. We can then sanitize and mark the treatment site where the microneedling is going to occur. The procedure itself usually takes around 30 minutes to complete, but there are some other factors to consider. If we are going to treat a larger area or multiple areas, then the procedure might take slightly longer.

Microneedling vs. Dermal Rollers: Which Is Better?

Dermal rollers can be found at beauty supply stores or online as at-home treatments, primarily to help with acne scars. Still, the process can be painful and not very effective. A microneedling device, performed by a trained professional, offers improved results compared to dermal rollers. In addition, Microneedling is much safer in the hands of a professional and more sanitary as it employs needle cartridges that are disposed of after each treatment.

Who Are Good Candidates for Microneedling Treatments?

One of the reasons why microneedling has become so popular is because practically every healthy adult is going to be a good candidate. As long as you don’t have any serious skin problems, this procedure could be an excellent option. With microneedling, we can treat fine lines and wrinkles around the forehead, eyes, nose, and mouth. This procedure can also be used to treat old surgical scars, acne scars, hyperpigmentation, and other surface imperfections.

How Long Do Microneedling Results Last?

The effect of microneedling treatments is permanent, but maintenance treatments are required to maintain results because the skin continues to age. The number of treatments depends on the severity of each patient’s skin concerns, goals, and desired results. Studies have shown that treating the skin with four sessions spaced four to six weeks apart results in a 400% increase in collagen and elastin production within the first six months.

You can protect your microneedling results by applying sunscreen frequently throughout the day or wearing protective clothing. You can also invest in great quality skincare products. At Imagos Plastic Surgery, we are partnered with Obagi skincare products and can recommend the ideal products to help slow signs of aging and promote healthy skin.

When Can I See MicroneedlingResults?

Just as with any other cosmetic procedure, it is important to remember that every patient will have slightly different results. That being said, the vast majority of patients begin to notice improvements within just a few weeks of the initial procedure. For the full results of your microneedling session, you might need to wait as long as six weeks. You won’t notice the final results until your skin has fully healed and the fresh collagen has flooded the treatment site.

Miami Microneedling FAQ

Before you have your first microneedling session carried out, you will need to schedule an initial consultation. During your first appointment, we will discuss all of your cosmetic goals and take a closer look at your medical history. Once we have covered all of that information, our team can then set up a treatment schedule. For the average patient, we typically suggest between three and six treatments depending on the severity of the blemishes. In order to give your skin ample time to recover, those appointments must be scheduled once every four to six weeks.

Even though we do everything in our power to make our treatments as affordable as possible, we understand that some of these procedures can be major investments. If you have finally decided that microneedling is for you, then we would love to speak with you about all of your financing and payment options. We want to ensure that you remain happy and confident, and our team would love to help you come up with an affordable plan that lets you achieve your cosmetic goals without breaking the bank.

During each microneedling session, you might feel some pressure or a slight stinging sensation, but those side effects tend to be very mild. For patients who are nervous about discomfort, we invite you to speak with our team about all of your options for anesthetics. We want to do everything in our power to make sure that you remain as comfortable as possible throughout each of your appointments.

Following your treatments, you will most likely notice at least a few mild side effects. One of the most common side effects of this treatment is skin discoloration, and your skin might be slightly red for one or two days after the appointment. Some patients also experience mild swelling, but that inflammation should disappear within one or two days as well.
